Everyone hates the media,
but a small offshore investment fund is taking its ill will further than many
would dare - it's putting a bounty on a journalist's head.
The Tulip Fund - a self-described specialist in offshore "ethical" or
"socially responsible" investments - has posted a $100,000 reward for
the arrest of David Marchant, publisher of
Offshore Alert, a monthly newsletter
that covers internationally based financiers.
Keep in mind that Marchant isn't wanted by any authorities at this point,
hasn't been accused or convicted of anything by any law enforcement agency.
The world of offshore finance is a murky one, and has been utilized by money
launderers, drug cartels and other organized crime denizens for decades.
Marchant's
financial commentary seems fairly mild, in comparison, unless you ask the folks
at Tulip, maybe the only company that uses the words "ethical" and
"offshore" in the same breath. |
