Saint or Sinner

Intro:

TOM CLARK: Welcome back to "W-FIVE". Muhammad Ali may be the greatest boxer of all time, a name known around the world, and he attracts crowds even today after he quit fighting. Yank Barry, a name you probably never heard, but the two men are very closely linked. Muhammad Ali and Canadian Yank Barry, together claiming they want to end world hunger. Now, it just happens that they want to do it by selling a food product produced by one of Yank Barry's companies. Well it sounds pretty good so far, but look more closely and you'll ask, as we did, why is the greatest partnered with a man with a checkered past. Whether the goal is really to feed the masses and whether Yank Barry is a saint or a sinner. In the off-shore business world, this is the place to live, the Bahamas, where the rich can live tax-free in high style and rub shoulders with celebrities, and there is no one better at living the good life than Yank Barry. His mansion is situated in one of the most sought-after locations in Nassau.

Excerpt: CLARK: And he went after the better life with a vengeance. Today, as a
member of the ultra-exclusive Ocean View Golf Club in the Bahamas. So where
did he make his millions? Well Barry claims that he made his money from
Vita-pro and from managing off-shore investments for wealthy celebrities. But
some people say that is just a cover. They think that Yank Barry is just a
smooth talker with questionable business practices. People like investigative
journalist David Marchant. He's one of the few reporters keeping an eye on the
world of off-shore banking.

DAVID MARCHANT: If you mentioned his name to a legitimate off-shore
businessman, they would laugh. The only people really that are going to do
business with him are suckers who live in the United States, Canada or
elsewhere who are looking to get rich quick.
