KYC's David Marchant gives statement to Commission of Inquiry

Intro:
The following statement obtained by Carib News Now was sent to Grenada's Commission of Inquiry by Mr. David Marchant

Excerpt: After speaking with Dr. Mitchell, I analyzed all of the information at my disposal in order to determine its credibility and whether I had sufficient credible information to justify a story. I take my job as an investigative journalist seriously. I am well aware of my professional responsibilities and that my articles can have a negative effect on the lives of those I write about. Therefore, 1 am extremely careful and thorough in the process I go through before publishing investigative articles. In this case, I determined that the allegation by Mr. Bass was credible. I also took into consideration that Dr. Mitchell had himself admitted accepting a substantial amount of cash from a private citizen who, despite having no meaningful ties to Grenada, had been appointed to a diplomatic position and I also knew at the time that Mr. Resteiner was suspected of involvement in criminal activity, specifically investment fraud.
